With one of my father's white dress shirts to use as a lab coat, and a small start-up fund from my grandparents, I opened my first laboratory in second grade. My early work focused mostly on dismantling broken household appliances in order to "fix" them, as well as using their parts to try to build radios. While the lab work was progressing nicely, two major world events forever changed my career path—Charlie's Angels and the Jarvik Seven. The Jarvik Seven (the first artificial heart) inspired an interest in bionics and human medicine; while Kelly, Jill and Sabrina encouraged my feathered haired inner sleuth. I remain a product of those combined interests, a Private Eye, who works in the human brain, or as some say, a scientist.
